Exhibition Carpet Care: Keeping Booth Flooring Show-Ready
Between rolling cases, spilled coffee and thousands of footsteps, a multi-day exhibition puts a booth carpet through more than most flooring sees in months of normal use. Most of what keeps it looking sharp through closing day happens before the show even opens.
Before the show opens
- Vacuum immediately after install — cutting and fitting always leaves loose fibres; a first pass before doors open sets the pile properly.
- Check seams and edges — taped joins should sit flat with no lifted edges that catch a heel or a case wheel.
- Photograph the fresh install — useful reference if anything needs comparing at strike-out.
During the show
A quick vacuum before doors open each morning is the single highest-impact habit — it lifts dust and grit that would otherwise grind into the pile over the day and dull the colour by the final afternoon. For spills, blot rather than rub; rubbing pushes liquid deeper into the pile and spreads the stain.
Most carpet doesn't look tired because of what happened on day one — it looks tired because dust and grit were never lifted out overnight.
High-traffic zones need extra attention
Entrances, demo areas and anywhere staff stand for long stretches wear faster than the rest of the booth. A walk-off mat at the entrance catches the worst of the dust before it reaches the branded carpet, and is worth the small extra footprint on larger stands.
What not to do
- Don't use household carpet cleaners not rated for commercial exhibition-grade pile — some leave a residue that attracts more dirt.
- Don't let spills sit — blot as soon as it's safe to do so.
- Don't drag heavy display furniture across the carpet — lift and place instead, especially on lighter colours.
At strike-out
We remove exhibition carpet the moment a show closes, so there's no need to plan for long-term stain removal — but a booth that's been vacuumed daily comes up cleaner in the final walk-through, which matters if the venue inspects the space before releasing your deposit.
